What is an HV Angle Valve?

An HV angle valve (High Vacuum Angle Valve) is a specialized valve designed for use in high and ultra-high vacuum systems. Unlike standard valves, HV angle valves offer exceptional sealing capabilities, low leak rates, and resistance to high differential pressures, making them ideal for vacuum environments where contamination and leakage must be minimized.
Typically, these valves are used for isolating vacuum chambers, controlling gas flow, and managing pumping and venting processes without causing turbulence or pressure pulses. Their unique angled design helps optimize flow conductance and ease of integration into vacuum piping systems.

Key Features of HV Angle Valves

HV angle valves come with several technical and functional features that set them apart:
High Vacuum Compatibility: Leak rates as low as < 1 × 10⁻⁹ mbar·l/s ensure minimal contamination.
Pressure Range: Operate effectively from ultra-high vacuum (~1 × 10⁻⁸ mbar) up to pressures of several bars (depending on the model).
Materials: Commonly made from aluminum or stainless steel to withstand harsh environments and high bakeout temperatures (up to 150 °C).
Actuation Options: Manual, pneumatic (single or double-acting), electromagnetic, and electric stepper motor actuators provide flexibility across applications.
Flange Standards: ISO-KF and ISO-K flanges are standard, facilitating easy integration.
Position Indicators: Many models include position indication signals for precise valve status monitoring.
Bellows Sealed Feedthrough: Ensures particle-free operation and prevents pressure spikes.
